SAN RAFAEL, CA – March 20, 2023 – Alarm Financial Services, Inc. (“AFS”) is proud to announce founder, Jim Wooster, Sr., also founder of Fidelity Alarms, has been named to the Security Sales & Integration Industry Hall of Fame for 2023. Wooster is one of six honorees recognized this year for significant lifetime contributions to the security and fire/life safety industry. He joins just over 100 inductees named to the Hall of Fame since it was established in 2004. This year’s SAMMY and SSI Industry Hall of Fame ceremony will take place during ISC West in Las Vegas, Wednesday, March 29 at 2 p.m. on the Bridge Stage located near the center of the show floor.

 

Wooster’s high-level security alarm industry success has been a 50+ year endeavor. Wooster’s career began as a salesman, then franchise owner, eventually running multiple security businesses at once. Wooster started out in 1967, in CCTV in Pittsburgh, PA followed two years later by the purchase of Fidelity Alarm, a Cleveland, OH based Dictograph franchise. He grew the company over the next 20 years becoming one of the largest and most successful Dictograph dealers in the country. In 1988, Wooster sold Fidelity Alarms to Security Link. Wooster also started San Diego Sentinel Surveillance Systems, selling to Pacific Video in 1996.

In 1988, Wooster entered the financing side of the industry, starting WKS, Inc. with partners Sandy Kahn and Ivan Scharer. WKS became AFS, which is managed today by Jim Wooster, Jr. AFS provides funding programs and advisory services to small to medium-sized alarm dealers throughout the US.

Wooster also founded the North East Ohio Burglar and Fire Alarm Association and co-founded the Ohio Burglar and Fire Alarm Association. He has held many association memberships nationally over the years, and was awarded ASIS Lifetime Membership.

Wooster remains active in AFS and the alarm industry as a consultant, speaker at various industry conferences and association meetings, and as an investor/advisor to Observables, Inc., a Santa Barbara based provider of collaborative video dispatch. He has been motivated over the years, “being a part of an industry that is progressive, that provides a benefit to their clients. We protect lives and property.”  About this his induction into the SSI Hall of Fame, Wooster is, “very grateful for this unexpected honor.”
